1. What is a Vietnam E-visa?
As stated in the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit, and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam no. 47/2014/QH13, a Vietnam visa is a document issued by a competent authority, allowing foreigners to enter Vietnam.
An e-visa is a type of electronic visa issued to foreigners to enter a country.
A Vietnam E-visa is a type of electronic visa issued by the Vietnamese Government, allowing foreigners to quickly and conveniently enter Vietnam for the purpose of tourism, trade or business.
With E-visa, visitors can complete the visa application online and pay the fee through the official website of the Vietnamese Government without having to go to the Vietnamese Embassy to submit the application and wait for the entry permit.
From August 15, 2023, according to Resolution No. 127/NQ-CP dated August 14, 2023, of the Vietnamese Government, the Government now allows the issuance of E-visa to citizens of all countries and territories in the world. However, tourists with an E-visa can only enter through a number of border gates permitted by the Vietnamese Government.
2. Procedures for applying for Vietnam E-visa
Procedures for applying for Vietnam E-visa are carried out at the Electronic Visa Page - Vietnam Immigration Electronic Information Portal. Here, the Immigration Department guides the E-visa application procedures as follows:
2.1. Foreigners who are abroad directly requested to issue E-visa
Step 1: Enter information to request to issue an electronic visa:
Upload a photo of the passport's personal information page and a portrait photo (face looking straight, without glasses);
After this step, the applicant will be given an Electronic File Code by the system.
Step 2: Pay the electronic visa fee.
Single-entry visa: 25 USD/e-visa
Multiple-entry visa: 50 USD/e-visa
Step 3: Use the Electronic File Code to check the results
2.2. Agencies and organizations in Vietnam request to issue E-visas to foreigners
Before requesting to issue an electronic visa to foreigners entering Vietnam, the inviting or sponsoring agency or organization must complete the procedure to request an access account and register to use an electronic signature.
Within 03 working days from the date of receiving a complete and valid application, the Immigration Department will grant an access account to the organization.
The procedure for requesting an account and registering to use an electronic signature is only carried out once, except in cases of re-registration due to changes in registered information, or the account is canceled according to regulations.
After being granted an access account and being allowed to use an electronic signature, the application for an electronic visa for foreigners is carried out in the following steps:
Step 1: Use the granted account to log in to the declaration section and submit the application for an electronic visa.
Step 2: Enter information of the foreigner requesting an electronic visa;
Upload a photo of the passport's personal information page and a portrait photo (face looking straight, without glasses) of each foreigner;
After completing the information entry for each guest, the system will grant an electronic visa application code for each foreigner.
Step 3: Use the electronic signature to sign to confirm the requested information.
Step 4: Pay the electronic visa fee.
Single-entry visa: 25 USD/e-visa
Multiple-entry visa: 50 USD/e-visa
Step 5: Use the provided account to check the results, if approved, send the Electronic File Code to the foreigner to print the electronic visa and enter/exit Vietnam.
3. How long is the validity of the E-visa?
According to Article 9 of the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam, the validity of the Vietnam E-visa is no more than 90 days.
If you want to stay or travel longer, you need to apply for a traditional visa or extend your Vietnam E-visa at the Vietnam Immigration Department.
